A carbon blank in a rod holder is one knock away from a crack you cannot see and a failure you will not expect. When a boat hits a swell, wake, or a rough crossing, the bare butt section of an unprotected blank takes the impact directly, slops back and forth in the rod holder, and high-modulus carbon does not forgive. It also causes components that hold reels together to come loose.

 

The Hamachi Rod Blank Saver range was designed specifically to prevent this, using the same principle that protects aerospace landing gear and automotive crumple zones: a UV-stabilised polyurethane honeycomb internal structure that absorbs and disperses impact energy rather than transmitting it directly into the blank.

The slotted tapered design clips onto any bare butt section and slides into position exactly where you need it — no adhesives, no permanent modifications, on and off in seconds.

 

Unlike hard plastic spiral wraps that simply pass shock energy straight through to the carbon, the polyurethane honeycomb core compresses and recovers, acting as a genuine shock buffer between the rod holder and your blank.

 

Every version floats — if it goes over the side during a chaotic moment, it is coming back. Originally designed over 20 years ago in split EVA foam, it's been continuously refined. The current polyurethane versions are lighter, more shock absorbent, tougher, and more UV-resistant than any previous iteration.
