XOS GTnDoggie SPJ - SLOW PITCH JIG
XOS GT'n'Doggie™ Expedition Slow Pitch / Fast Punch Jig is built around a single biological truth: a wounded baitfish doesn't swim in straight lines, and neither should your jig.
Slow pitch jigging rewards patience, correct rod action, and a blank that genuinely loads and releases energy into the jig — and this rod delivers all three. The more parabolic taper loads on the upstroke and imparts a controlled, weighted pause before releasing, sending the jig into the tumbling, flutter-fall spiral that bottom-hugging species — amberjack, hapuku, dogtooth tuna, snapper — treat as an easy meal they cannot ignore.
Three PE ratings cover the full range of offshore slow pitch applications from the same 6'0" butt-joint platform.
PE 1–3 (10–30lb, jigs to 150g) is the finesse setup for lighter inshore reef work — snapper over shallow structure, trevally, coral trout — where the jig needs to flutter convincingly in the 30–80m range.
PE 2–4 (20–40lb, jigs to 200g) is the go-to mid-range model for general offshore slow pitch: kingfish on deep reef, amberjack over current lines, big snapper at 60–100m.
PE 3–8 (30–80lb, jigs to 300g) moves into serious deep-water territory — dogtooth tuna, hapuku, grouper and trophy amberjack where jig weight and power in reserve are both critical. All three share primary ratings for slow pitch and soft plastics, and a capable secondary role for speed jigging, bottom fishing, and livebait presentation — making each a legitimate all-round boat rod, not just a specialist single-technique tool.
The Expedition Slow Pitch shares the XOS GT'n'Doggie Expedition DNA — hand-rolled nano carbon blank, SiC braid guides, Hamachi composite reel seat with CNC alloy trims, rubber butt gimbal — but is tuned for a different fishing physics entirely from the Speed Jig sibling. Where the Speed Jig is stiff, fast, and high-modulus, the Slow Pitch blank has deliberate parabolic compliance built into the mid-section that generates jig action the angler barely has to think about. Spin and overhead configurations are both available across all three PE ratings.
